Élisapie’s presence at the 2024 JUNOs didn’t go unnoticed. In addition to winning the Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year JUNO, she offered a magnificent performance during the televised gala, performing “Uummati Attanarsimat,” her version of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass,” as featured on her covers album, Inuktitut. Montréal’s Lubalin might have first made a name for himself with his wild TikTok videos, but it was meeting Charlotte Cardin that led to his first two 2024 JUNO nominations – in the Songwriter of the Year category presented by SOCAN, and for the Jack Richardson Award for Producer of the Year, both for his work on Cardin’s album 99 Nights. We met a very grateful Lubalin on the red carpet, as he recounted a few anecdotes about his collaboration with her.
