Jay Scøtt surprised everyone by winning in the Album of the Year – Folk category of the Premier Gala de l’ADISQ 2022, which took place on Nov. 2, 2022, at MTELUS. Ses Plus Grands Succès won the top honours, in a category that included Émile Bilodeau, Édith Butler, Étienne Coppée, and Tire le Coyote. While his music is more influenced by rap than folk, Scøtt couldn’t care less about labels, and takes this honour as an acknowledgement of how far he’s come, from his home studio to crowded concert halls, with audiences singing the words to his songs in unison. We had a chat with him, backstage at the Premier Gala de l’ADISQ.
