Songwriter, producer, recording artist, DJ, and SOCAN member Kaytranada, who won two Grammy Awards in 2021, has earned another three nominations in the 2025 edition of the honours. He’s being considered for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Witchy,” and Best Dance/Electronic Album for Timeless, while his remix of the Doechii song “Alter Ego” earned a nod for Best Remixed Recording. His trio of nominations is the most among all SOCAN members this year, for the 67th Grammy Awards, to be broadcast Feb. 2, 2025, on CBS and Paramount+, live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Timeless features contributions from River Tiber, who co-produced the song “Hold On” (featuring Dawn Richard), and Rochelle Jordan, who co-wrote and performed on both “Spit It Out” (featuring Rochelle Jordan) and  “Lover/Friend” (featuring Rochelle Jordan).

Lowell, Nate Ferraro, and bülow are among the co-writers of Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which is nominated for Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Country Song. The song appears on the Cowboy Carter album, which is nominated for Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Country Album, and for which Lowell also co-wrote “Bodyguard.” Dave Hamelin, best known as the frontperson for The Stills, co-wrote four Cowboy Carter songs: “16 Carriages,” “Just for Fun (with Willie Jones),” “II Hands II Heaven,” and “Amen.”

Singer-songwriter and electric guitarist Sue Foley earned a nomination in the Best Traditional Blues Album category, for One Guitar Woman. In the same category, celebrated Canadian bluesman Steve Strongman co-wrote all but one of the 10 songs, and produced (with additional recording and percussion by Rob Szabo), the nominated Fabulous Thunderbirds album Struck Down. The song “Cellar Door,” by hard rock band Spiritbox, is competing for Best Metal Performance. Jessie Reyez and Daniel Caesar are among various artists who recorded songs for the deluxe version of Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired By the Film, nominated for Best Reggae Album. In the same category, Banx and Ranx are among the co-writers of the song “Tap Out” on the Shenseea album Never Gets Late Here.

The nominees for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, include Jack Rochon and R&B singer Charlotte Day Wilson, who earned the nod for her album Cyan Blue.

Shawn Mendes is a co-writer and featured performer on “Witness Me,” from the Jacob Collier album Djesse Vol. 4, nominated for Album of the Year. Aaron Paris co-produced “Intro (End of the World)” on the Ariana Grande album Eternal Sunshine, nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, and “Dancer,” by Idles, on the album TANGK, nominated for Best Rock Album. Mike Wise co-produced two songs, “Femininomenon” and “Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl,” on the Chappell Roan album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, nominated for Album of the Year. Gordie Sampson co-wrote the song “When the Lights Go Out” on the Sarah Jarosz LP Polaroid Lovers, nominated for Best Americana album.

In the Best R&B Song category, Coco Jones’s “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” was co-written by singer-songwriter Sara Diamond, and SZA’s “Saturn” was co-written by singer-songwriter Scott Zhang. In the Best R&B Album category, Chris Brown’s nominated album 11:11 (Deluxe) features production contributions from Boi-1da and YogiTheProducer.

Boi-1da  co-produced Future and Metro Boomin’s  song “We Still Don’t Trust You” as well, which also featured The Weeknd, nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance, and the duo’s LP of the same name was nominated for Best Rap Album. Along with DZL, T-Minus, and OZ, Boi-1da  was among the co-producers of J. Cole’s Might Delete Later, also nominated for Best Rap Album. Similarly, singer-songwriter Grant Dickinson contributed to the Best Rap Song nominee “CARNIVAL,” by Y$ featuring Rich the Kid and Playboi Carti.

In the category of Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media, Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You” appeared on the nominated Deadpool & Wolverine soundtrack, and Arcade Fire’s “No Cars Go” was featured on the compilation soundtrack for Saltburn.

Ron Korb played flute on two Grammy-nominated projects: Break of Dawn by Ricky Kej, up for Best New Age Album; and “Kashira” Masa” by Takumi (featuring Ron Korb, Noshir Mody, and Dale Edward Chung), up for Best Global Performance. Marika Bournaki played piano on Fotina Naumenko’s Bespoke Songs, nominated for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album. Deborah Cox played the role of Glinda in a revival of The Wiz, which was nominated for Best Musical Theatre Album. David Campbell contributed the string arrangement to “Skinny,” by Billie Eilish, from her Hit Me Hard and Soft LP, nominated for both Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Other Canadian nominees include Québécois conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin received three nominations: one for Maestro: Music by Leonard Bernstein, with the London Symphony Orchestra and Bradley Cooper, in the Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media category; and two in the Best Opera Recording category, for Catan: Florencia en el Amazonas and Puts: the Hours, both with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

Canadian nominees for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, include audio engineer and mixer Shawn Everett, who worked on the Kacey Musgraves LP Deeper Well, also nominated for Best Country Album, and on the twice-nominated  Cowboy Carter; and his fellow engineer and mixer Serban Ghenea, a 21-time Grammy winner, for his work on new pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet album. That one also was also nominated for Album of the Year, as was Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, to which Genea also contributed. R&B singer-songwriter
