SOCAN was pleased and proud to present songwriter-to-the-stars Tobias Jesso Jr. (who’s contributed to hits by Adele, Harry Styles, and Miley Cyrus) with a No. 1 Song Award for co-writing Dua Lipa’s “Houdini,” which topped the Billboard U.S. Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for 14 weeks, starting in November of 2023. “Houdini” has achieved more than 380 million plays on Spotify, and more than 104 million views on YouTube.
SOCAN Creative Executives in Los Angeles, Racquel Villagante and Liam Russell, presented the award to Jesso Jr. in L.A. on April 5, 2024. “Houdini” was co-written by Jesso with Dua Lipa, Danny L. Harle (both ASCAP), Caroline Ailin (BMI), and Kevin Parker (APRA). The song is co-published by Sony Music Publishing and the Universal Music Publishing Group.
