SOCAN was pleased and proud to co-host a lively Black Music Song Camp at the Audio Valley Recording Studio in Ottawa on Feb. 28 and Mar. 1, 2025.
Working with local organizations the House of Ensemble (a platform to boost emerging artists in Ottawa), and the OMIC (the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition), SOCAN gathered 15 songwriters, producers, and artists to create impactful songs.
The camp fostered collaboration, innovation, and meaningful connection, aiming to craft songs with strong placement potential and long-term career impact for Black creatives.
Writers rotated between studios in groups of five, allowing for dynamic collaborations and fresh creative energy throughout the process, and encouraging diverse musical connections and maximum creative output.
