SOCAN is proud to partner with ADISQ to offer a digital music kit to schools interested in integrating local music into their curriculum.

Through its L’Adisq à l’école project, the Association québécoise de l’industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo (ADISQ) is making available to schools and teachers more than 20 works by local artists chosen from the 2024 nominations in the categories Song of the Year, Group or Duo, Female or Male Artist, Indigenous Artist, Discovery, and Author or Composer of the Year.

Available in digitally, the kit contains a video of the artist explaining the creation of their song and their inspiration. Also included are the song, its lyrics, a photo of the artist, and their bio.

Whether it’s studying texts, drawing, singing, playing, or any other initiative, teachers will have everything they need to encourage our youth to discover Québec music, culture, and language.

“As the main place where young people are socialized, schools can be a privileged meeting place for our music and our youth. At a time when our music is struggling to be discovered, it’s important to encourage young people to discover and listen to our music and artists,” said Eve Paré, Executive Director of ADISQ.

For her part, SOCAN member and host of the Premier Gala de l’ADISQ Sarahmée praised the initiative: “Music is a vector of motivation, learning and openness. Without it, I might not have discovered a passion as early as I did, and I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today. Giving students access to quality content from Québec is an initiative I warmly welcome, and I hope it will ignite sparks.”

For more information, and to receive the kit, visit ecole.adisq.com/inscription. By registering, teachers will get a chance to win tickets to attend the next ADISQ Gala with their students.

This project was made possible thanks to the RadioStar funding, and a financial contribution from SOCAN.
