Classical/concert music composers are invited to apply now for any and all of four $50,000 (CAD) cash awards in the 2026 Azrieli Music Prizes (AMP) by submitting scores and proposals for Choir and Orchestra (with optional soloists) by the deadline of May 2, 2025. Created in 2014 by Sharon Azrieli, CQ, under the Azrieli Foundation, the AMP celebrates excellence in music composition by offering the largest prize package of its kind in Canada.
Each of the four prizes includes:
- A cash award of $50,000 CAD for the winner
- A gala premiere of the prize-winning composition in Montréal during the 2026–2027 season, live-streamed globally
- At least two subsequent international performances
- A commercial recording release
- An overall prize package valued at over $200,000 CAD
The four prize categories are:
1. The Azrieli Commission for Canadian Music
Open to Canadian composers exploring the complexities of composing in Canada today.
2. The Azrieli Commission for International Music
Open to composers worldwide seeking to creatively intertwine cultures tied to their lived experiences.
3. The Azrieli Commission for Jewish Music
Open to composers who critically and creatively engage with the question, “What is Jewish music?”
4. The Azrieli Prize for Jewish Music
Awarded to the composer of the best new, undiscovered work that addresses, “What is Jewish music?”
AMP welcomes entries from individuals and institutions of all ages, genders, faiths, backgrounds, and experience levels, from all over the world – with no entry fee.
