In a groundbreaking event for the Filipino music community, Kuya Productions, VLVT, Riot Club, and 22 Sounds hosted their first-ever Filipino Canadian Songwriting Camp, Oct. 25-27, 2024, in Toronto.
Supported by SOCAN, Warner Chappell Music Publishing, Tita Flips, Sukothai, Universal Music Canada, and 80A Studios, the camp brought together an impressive group of Filipino songwriters, producers, and artists from across the country.
The initiative fostered collaboration among Filipino artists, and celebrated their rich cultural heritage, while building bridges between Filipino-Canadian creators and their counterparts in the Philippines. The camp focused on crafting new material for Filipino Canadian artists, with an emphasis on building collaborations that span both sides of the Pacific.

The song camp – founded by Samuel Gerongco, Bobby Brass, Addy Papa, and Andrew Briol – provided a unique space for artists and songwriters to connect, share experiences, and create music that reflects their collective identities as part of the Filipino diaspora.
With a vision to highlight Filipino talent in Canada and abroad, this event also paved the way for exciting cross-cultural projects and new opportunities within the Canadian music industry.
