It’s no secret that Marie-Pierre Arthur can’t help but move in surprising new directions, and her fifth LP, Album bleu, is no exception. The nine songs on this new project sound more contemporary, with hints of electronic music, R&B, rock, and they’re all more dance-oriented than ever before. We met up with her in a park to find out more about her main musical collaborators — the ever-present François Lafontaine, and the astonishing Sébastien Blais-Montpetit, a producer with hip-hop roots — and those who’ve collaborated with her lyrically, including Amylie, Carole Facal, Gaële, Rose Perron, and Mantisse from LaF. In fact, Arhtur reveals that it was thanks to her participation in a SOCAN Kenekt song camp that she was able to bring her atypical collaboration with Mantisse to fruition. Needless to say, we’re quite proud of that!
