Pride season in Canada is an opportunity for us to celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and acknowledge the persistent pursuit of equal rights. In solidarity with this vibrant community, SOCAN’s Toronto office once again hoisted the Pride flag throughout June of 2024.
Celebrations during Pride not only showcase the strength in Canada’s diversity, but also serve as a reminder to continue opposing anti-2SLGBTQIA+ sentiments. SOCAN is committed to creating an inclusive environment, both in our workplace and within our industry.
As Pride festivities in Toronto come to a close, we’re focusing on ongoing celebrations in Vancouver and Montreal, cities where SOCAN maintains offices.
Vancouver will host Canada Pride from July 26 to Aug. 4, 2024, featuring a series of events that include the Opening Ceremonies at Davie Street Lounge, and the Queer Rights Summit. The Vancouver Pride Parade on Aug. 4 promises to be a highlight, culminating in a festive closing ceremony on Granville Island. For a full schedule of events, access the Vancouver Pride website.
Festival Fierté Montréal (Montréal Pride Festival) runs from Aug. 1-11, 2024, and notable events include Community Days on Aug. 9 and 10, and the Pride Parade on Aug. 11. Detailed event information will become available as the events draw closer. For updates, access the Fierté Montréal website.
Of course, there are also Pride events in Calgary, Ottawa, and all across the country, so you can join in the celebration.
