SOCAN presented a No. 1 Song Award to four representatives of the Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) for “Houdini,” recorded by Dua Lipa, which topped the Billboard U.S. Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for 14 weeks, starting in November of 2023. “Houdini” has achieved more than 380 million plays on Spotify, and more than 104 million views on YouTube.
SOCAN CEO Jennifer Brown, along with SOCAN Director, Publisher Relations, Tanya Van Luven, presented the award to UMPG’s Kevin Cady, Stephen Dallas, Evan Lamberg, and Anthony Saragueta, at the publisher’s Los Angeles offices, on Apr. 16, 2024.
“Houdini” was co-written by SOCAN member Tobias Jesso Jr. (who’s already received his own SOCAN No. 1 Song Award for it), in collaboration with Dua Lipa, Danny L. Harle (both ASCAP), Caroline Ailin (BMI), and Kevin Parker (APRA). The song is co-published by Sony Music Publishing.
